An ecosystem in full evolution

From a steppe landscape, beautiful for its authenticity and respect for native flora and fauna, our Forest of Eternity will grow as we reforest and plant new trees, shrubs, and plants to remember our loved ones.

We plant a tree or aromatic plant for each loved one who rests in our forest, and it can also be planted in commemoration, without the need to bury or scatter ashes.

Juniper

The junipers in the Monegros Desert symbolize resilience and adaptation.

Despite the arid climate and extreme conditions, the juniper tree manages to survive, representing the strength of life in this steppe environment. It is also a key element of the local ecosystem, providing shelter and food for various species.

Olive tree

The olive tree in the Monegros Desert represents tradition and sustainable living. Adapted to arid soils, this tree is a symbol of perseverance and cultural richness, having accompanied local communities for centuries. Furthermore, the olive tree contributes to the economy and the landscape, providing fruit and shade in a challenging environment.

Almond tree

The almond trees in Monegros symbolize hope and the cycle of life.

The almond tree is one of the most resistant trees to the semi-arid climate of the Monegros. It can grow in calcareous and stony soils, with little water. If planted young (1-2 years old), it begins to develop rapidly: it can reach 2-3 meters in about 5 years, and begins to bear fruit from the 3rd or 4th year. It is deciduous and blooms even with late frosts, making it valuable in difficult areas.

Fig tree

The fig tree adapts well to dry and arid soils and is highly drought-tolerant once established. Planted as a seedling, it can grow 30–60 cm per year and begins to produce figs in its second or third year. Its roots are aggressive, so it requires space and is excellent for marginal soils.

Pine

It is the most common pine species in the Monegros. Highly resistant to drought and heat, it can grow on dry, rocky slopes. It grows slowly at first (20–30 cm per year), but from the 4th or 5th year onwards, it can exceed 1 meter per year if it receives some irrigation or regular rainfall. It is key for reforestation because it protects the soil from erosion and improves the microclimate.

Vine

In the arid landscape of the Monegros, the vine represents resistance and life that persists even in difficult conditions. Its presence brings a touch of greenery and freshness, integrating naturally into the environment without altering the ecosystem.

Broom

Broom is a highly resistant native plant, very representative of the Monegrin landscape. Its rough but soft shape and its yellow flowers remind us of the eternal cycle of life. Using broom in an ecological funeral honours the local flora, encourages the regeneration of the land and maintains the balance with the desert ecosystem.

Aromatic Plants

Abundant in Monegros, these species not only bring fragrance and beauty, but also a profound symbolic value. Rosemary, traditionally linked to remembrance and memory, thyme and lavender contribute to biodiversity and evoke serenity. They are ideal for ceremonies that respect the natural cycle of life.
